Ecstatic Abyss

Ecstatic Abyss is a meditative, ambient work in the style of Tangerine Dream and composer Klaus Schultz. An original sequencer pattern drives the work, first by serving as a source for a Vocoder processing a harmonically-dense pad, and later as the featured element of the work. A simple drum pattern emerges to drive the piece without drawing attention away from the complex of sequencer patterns as they slowly unfold. I utilized Spectrasonics' Omnisphere synthesizer, Arturia’s Pigments synthesizer, the Logic Vocoder Synth, Arturia’s Prophet V, and Logic’s Ultrabeat drum machine.
The visual accompaniment was created by allowing Apple’s iTunes software to play the composition twice, through different Visualizer settings, and then mapping the two resulting videos onto each other in iMovie using a “green screen” technique.
